Apple Beta Guide: How to Download and Install the iOS 16 Beta on Your iPhone
Apple released the latest update to its operating system at the recent Worldwide Developers Conference last June.
Apple has delivered a lot of features with the iOS 16 upgrade including an upgraded mail app, widget upgrades, new lock screens and many more.
When it was announced at this year’s WWDC, developers were the first to get a first-hand look and experience of the iOS 16 beta in their iPhones.
The developer beta is not recommended for everyone in day-to-day use unless you are a developer testing software. This is also under Apple Developer Program membership which is a paid subscription of $100 per year.
On the other hand, Apple has just launched the public beta version of iOS 16, which can be downloaded on your iPhone for free and in a few minutes. It is expected to be a bit more reliable.
To download the iOS 16 beta, all you need to do is sign up for it, install a configuration profile, and download the Apple Beta Software program.
Even though this release is a public beta, iOS 16 is still in beta; it is better to manage your expectations and be more patient as it might still have bugs on the system.
How to Enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program
To download iOS 16 public beta on your iPhone, you must first join Apple’s beta software program.
Apple’s Beta Software Program is a service that allows users to test new software for free and submit feedback to Apple regarding its quality, usability, and any issues they may encounter.
Here is CNET’s recommended step-by-step guide to enrolling in the Apple Beta Software Program:
1. Using your iPhone, go to the Apple Beta software program website.
2. Scroll down the page and click the blue Register button.
3. To sign in to the Apple ID associated with your iPhone, you can use Face ID or Touch ID.
4. Read the Apple Beta Software Program Agreement and give your consent to participate by accepting it.
A new page will appear after that. Scroll down to get started and click to enroll your iPhone.
It will then take you to another page where Apple will walk you through the instructions you need to install the iOS 16 beta.
You will notice a section that says, Install Profile. You must first install a configuration profile on your iPhone in order to download and install the iOS 16 beta.
To install the configuration profile, select the Download Profile button, then click Allow.
Allow in the pop-up that appears after clicking the blue Download Profile button. Next, close your web browser, open the Settings app, and at the very top of the page select Download Profile.
After that, it should present you with a window for the iOS 16 public beta configuration profile. Tap the Install button, then enter your password before tapping the Install button twice more. Finally, select the Restart option to start the iOS 16 beta installation.

How to download and install iOS 16
Once your iPhone has finished restarting, go to Settings > General > Software Update, select Download and Install, then enter your passcode to start the update process to the iOS 16 beta. .
If there are instances where the Download and Install button is not available to you, then you may need to wait for a few minutes as it may take some time.
However, it can also be because you don’t have enough storage space on your iPhone. It is recommended that you delete or uninstall rarely used apps on your device to make room for the new system.
When your download is complete, you can restart your device. After the restart, you can now experience the iOS 16 public beta.
