Colorado Free College Application Days returns in October 2021

For three days, the application fee for applying to Colleges in Colorado is waived.

DENVER – College applicants can save money by taking advantage of Colorado’s free application days.

Governor Jared Polis announced Friday that Colorado’s fourth annual Free Application Days will run from Tuesday, October 19 through Thursday, October 21.

During the three-day period, all 32 Colorado public colleges and universities, as well as several private institutions, will allow students to apply for free.

“Obtaining a certificate or diploma gives Coloradians the best opportunity to thrive in the profession of their choice,” Polis said in a press release.

“Colorado is rebuilding stronger, and by removing this financial hurdle, more Coloradians will have the opportunity to pursue these dreams,” Polis said. “We need local Colorado talent and bold ideas to make Colorado better than ever.”

Colorado Free Application Day aims to improve access to further education and training, according to the state of Colorado.

During last year’s campaign, students submitted nearly 57,000 applications, nearly half of which were from students of color and a third from first-generation students. Statewide, nomination submissions for 2020 are up 23% from 2019, according to the state.

“By extending Colorado Free Application Day to Colorado Free Application Days, we are giving students even more time to choose their path and make a difference in their future,” said Dr. Angie Paccione, Executive Director from the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

“With so many options available, whether you go to college, tech school, go to college, become an apprentice, or join the military, there is a program in Colorado that will unleash your potential,” Paccione said.
