Guillermo Del Toro no longer sees himself developing video games – Deadline

alley of nightmares director Guillermo del Toro says video game development isn’t his thing anymore.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the award-winning director who once teamed up with Hideo Koijma to develop Konami’s survival horror video game silent hillsbluntly stated that he never thought of trying video game development again.

Fans were curious about its status after its appearance at The Game Awards this year and commented on the hope that a new Silent Hill game will be released soon. Although he loves video games and game ideas, he doesn’t think he will develop another game as he has called himself a “video game albatross”.

“It’s just one of those things in my life that doesn’t make sense,” del Toro said of Silent Hills’ cancellation. “I just wanted to tickle Konami’s ribs, because I don’t get it. It was so perfect, what we were going to do was so exciting.

Although del Toro couldn’t work with Kojima and Norman Reedus on Silent Hills, they did collaborate on the 2019 Kojima Productions game. Death Stranding in which del Toro and Reed star alongside others such as Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Lindsay Wagner and Nicolas Winding Refn.
