How to Enter Download Mode on Galaxy Phones

If you’re looking for the best non-Vanilla Android experience, then getting your hands on a Samsung phone is more or less the right decision because of how good Samsung is on Android compared to what it once was. However, the one thing that has remained a staple of Samsung phones is the download mode; a special mode that lets you flash factory firmware to your phone and even root your phone (at the expense of your warranty). The method to enter download mode has changed several times and if you are wondering how to enter download mode on your Samsung Galaxy phone, you have come to the right place.

The process to enter download mode isn’t difficult, to be honest. You can’t really mess that up and if you want to flash the firmware you’ll have to use Odin but don’t worry we’ll do a tutorial on that later.

Enter download mode on your Samsung Galaxy device to flash firmware or root your phone

Now, before we continue, this guide is for all Samsung phones that are running Android 9 or later. The process is really simple and has no risk either.

Let’s see how you can enter download mode on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

  1. Start by turning off your phone.
  2. Now press and hold the following Volume Down + Bixby button + Power buttons (for phones with Bixby button) If your phone does not have a Bixby button, then only volume down and power button will do.
  3. Simply plug your phone into a USB cable while having the other end connected to the computer.
  4. Your phone will turn on immediately and you will get a warning screen after the Samsung logo.
  5. Press the volume up button and you will enter download mode.

From there, all you have to do is launch Odin and flash the firmware to your phone or root the device, whatever you want to do. Remember that download mode itself won’t let you do anything as it’s just a way to flash files to your phone and if you enter download mode it won’t erase your device and will not void the warranty.
