NBA announces make-up dates for postponed Bulls games originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
On Monday, the NBA announced new dates for five Chicago Bulls games — three of which had already been postponed, with two to come.
Here is a summary of these changes:
- Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons: January 11, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for December 14)
- Bulls at Oklahoma City Thunder: January 24, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for January 26)
- Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors: January 26, 7 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for December 22)
- Bulls at Toronto Raptors: February 3, 6:30 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for December 16)
- Bulls at Atlanta Hawks: March 3, 6 p.m. CT (originally scheduled for January 24)
The Bulls’ home game against the Pistons and the road game against the Raptors were the first two NBA postponements of the 2021-22 season. Both were necessitated by the Bulls’ COVID-19 outbreak that spanned from early to mid-December.
The Bulls’ postponed home game against the Raptors, however, was necessitated by an outbreak in Toronto.
Thunder and Hawks games are likely moved due to the broader league schedule shakeup. Although only five affect the Bulls, the NBA announced 21 schedule changes on Monday:
From the Bulls’ perspective, these changes create a back-to-back against the Pistons and Brooklyn Nets on January 11-12; a back-to-back road trip against the Magic and Thunder on January 23-24; a back-to-back road trip against the Raptors and Pacers on Feb. 3-4; and a homecoming against the Hawks and Bucks on March 3-4.
In all, that adds three back-to-backs to the Bulls’ schedule that didn’t exist before.
It also breaks what was originally a five-game road trip in late January. Now the Bulls visit the Bucks on Jan. 21, the Magic on Jan. 23 and the Thunder on Jan. 24, then return home to the Raptors on Jan. 26, then head to San Antonio to face the Spurs on Jan. 28. .
Originally, this back-to-back Magic-Thunder was going to feature the Magic and the Hawks, with a trip to Oklahoma City scheduled for Jan. 26 and San Antonio scheduled for Jan. 28.
The NBA has postponed 11 games this season due to COVID-19 complications at the time of this writing. For now, all have been rescheduled.
