Nintendo shows people how to download DLC in new official video
Thank you Nintendo
“Nintendo DLC” is always a weird phrase to say out loud. At one point in the gaming landscape, I never really thought it would be a widespread option, but it’s widespread enough now that it can be considered part of the company’s identity.
They adopted the practice just over a decade ago on the 3DS, where it was sometimes implemented in janky ways. From there, they spread to the Wii U. And even then, I wasn’t used to it! But once Nintendo started making regularly scheduled DLC for nearly all of its Switch games, everything fell into place. I accepted it.
Which brings me to this: an official Nintendo DLC tutorial video. If you don’t know how to buy more stuff, they’ve got you covered! The video below walks people through the steps of redeeming the free DLC offers through their Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack benefits. It’s as simple as “going to the Switch Online menu, then scrolling down, looking at the benefits on offer, and clicking on them until you can hit a download button.”
Currently, this selection mainly involves Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splaton 2 DLCs. Note, this does not imply Super Mario Bros. 35which is always interrupted.
